- Are you having a lot of the same product to store or there are a lot of different products?
- How often it is required to access the product in the warehouse.
- What would be the weight of the pallet loads?
- How many pallets are required to store?
Is there are a lot of product in the store which is needed to store in a small area?
Once you have determined your needs for the warehouse racking system then you will have to decide the type of system, which is right for you.
Selective Pallet racking – This is the most common use system which is providing direct access to many different types of product. It is the less dense form of storage and will allow you to have the easiest access to all other product.
Cantilever Rack – this is designed for directly accessing the long product such as tubing, lumber, metal, fabric bolts, etc.
Pushback Pallet Racking – This is a very high-density storage when you are having multiple pallets containing the same product. Can store 2 to 5 pallets deep. Last-in / first – out system.
Pallet Flow Racking – This is a very high-density storage for multiple order picking levels, providing the quick inventory turnover. First-in / first-out system.
Drive-In / Drive-Thru Pallet Racking – This is also a high-density storage for a lot of the same product. Stores up to 75″ more product and uses 35″ less space floor then selective pallet racking. Drive-in is the last-in and first-out system. Drive-thru is First-in / first-out system.
Carton Flow Pallet Racking – This is the incline system which is designed for carton order picking. First-in / first-out system.
